To prove routine governance work goes on during Covid-19, two new pieces of health and safety-related legislation came into force at the end of November.
The new PPE Regulations, replace Schedule 2 of the Safety Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007, with a new schedule which is far more comprehensive and in the words of Directive 2019/1832, which it transposes into Irish law, takes account of new types of risks found in workplaces.
The second piece of legislation is the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) (Amendment) (No 2) Regulations 2021 (SI 619/2021). This amendment requires ATV operators to be trained (to a QQI, or equivalent, standard) and provided with suitable PPE.
