Last week, we announced Occupli’s newest acquisition, Swedish VR fire training company Vobling. The Vobling VR Fire Trainer is an advanced virtual reality training tool designed to simulate real-life fire emergencies without the risks associated with live fire training.

Users wear a VR headset to immerse themselves in realistic environments, such as kitchens, garages, or truck fires, and practice extinguishing fires using interactive fire extinguishers. These extinguishers, which come in various types like water, foam, and powder, are connected via Bluetooth to the VR system, offering a tactile experience that mimics the weight and feel of actual equipment.

To ensure learners get a comprehensive and inclusive fire-fighting experience, the VR Fire Trainer offers the following features for application:

  • 6 Extinguishing agents (Powder, Water, CO2, Wet Chemical, Foam and Lithium extinguisher)
  • 5 Fire types (A-type, B-type, E-type and F-type, Lithium Battery Fire)
  • 9 Languages (English, Swedish, German, Polish, Chinese (simplified), Finnish, French, Norwegian, Dutch)

One of the key benefits of the VR Fire Trainer is its accessibility and safety. Traditional fire training often involves significant costs, logistical challenges, and environmental concerns due to the use of chemicals and live flames. With the reusable VR system, trainees can practice multiple times, honing their skills in different fire scenarios, all without harming the environment or requiring specialized equipment.

The trainer is especially effective in helping users understand how to handle different types of fires and extinguishers in various settings. This “learning by doing” approach builds confidence and ensures that users are well-prepared to handle real fire emergencies. The realism extends to the way the fire spreads and the smoke develops, creating a highly immersive and educational experience. To practice the use of a fire extinguisher, the VR Fire Trainer uses the P.A.S.S technique. P.A.S.S stands for Pull, Aim, Squeeze & Sweep.

This training solution is not only more cost-effective but also provides a sustainable alternative to traditional methods, with a focus on making fire safety training widely accessible. The VR Fire Trainer is certified as equal to real life fire training.
