This asbestos awareness course will provide attendees with basic, general awareness of the dangers associated with asbestos and measures required to protect their safety. This awareness day, if required, would also give safe working knowledge of the appropriate actions to take upon encountering asbestos or for planned minor asbestos works.

The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Exposure to Asbestos) Regulations 2006 require employer to protect employees from exposure to asbestos.
Participants: Up to 10 personnel
Duration: Half/one day depending on requirements
Who Is This Course Intended For?
Building and premises owners and anyone else who has responsibility for health and safety in the workplace.
The awareness day (half day) will also be particularly useful for those who currently are at most risk from inadvertent exposure to asbestos such as maintenance personnel, electricians, plumbers, fitters, painters and decorators, demolition and construction workers, roofers, telecommunications engineers, fire and burglar alarm installers, computer installers and building surveyors.

- Types, uses and risks of asbestos containing materials
- Health hazards of asbestos
- Legal overview – for both existing and forthcoming Irish asbestos legislation
- Identifying asbestos risks in the workplace
- Assessing and quantifying the risks posed by these materials
- Managing and Controlling these risks to prevent asbestos exposure
- Removal of asbestos – the role of the competent asbestos Contractor and Analyst
- The role of the competent Asbestos Surveyor
