The BER Assessor of Dwellings (6N0732) course is a QQI Level 6 programme designed to provide learners with the knowledge, skills and competence required to carry out Building Energy Ratings for domestic dwellings in Ireland.The course aligns with the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) and SEAI requirements, and is a key step towards becoming a registered Domestic BER Assessor.

As per the Domestic BER Training Specification issued by SEAI, and based on guidance received from QQI, the typical learning effort for a Level 6 minor award is 150 hours. This includes:
- Contact teaching hours: 50 to 130 hours
- Self‑directed learning hours: 20 to 100 hours

All applicants must confirm that they meet one of the approved qualification routes before enrolling on the course.
Route 1: Construction Qualification
- NFQ Level 6 Advanced/Higher Certificate (minimum 120 ECTS credits)
- Qualification must be in a construction-related discipline
Route 2: Experience + Qualification
- A minimum 60 ECTS credit qualification (non-construction related), and
- At least 2 years of significant, relevant work experience in a construction-related environment
Route 3: International Qualification
- An equivalent qualification mapped to at least NFQ Level 6
- International qualifications must meet Irish NFQ equivalency standards

Mandatory Administrative Requirement
A valid PPS Number is required for QQI certification.
