PHECC Cardiac First Response (CFR) Community & Epinephrine (Adrenaline) Course Programme
The Occupli PHECC Cardiac First Response & Epinephrine course is a 1 day training course. It is intended for personnel whose work involves dealing with the public, such as teachers, sports coaches, activity leaders, etc.; and healthcare professionals who wish to be certified in providing CFR to patients requiring treatment with epinephrine (adrenaline).
Cardiac First Response (CFR) is a vital step in the Chain of Survival, which incorporates Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and use of an automated External Defibrillator (AED). Epinephrine (Adrenaline) is a vital medicine in responding to a patient suffering from anaphylactic shock. This training provides learners with the ability to confidently treat patients suffering from emergencies such as cardiac arrest, heart attack, choking and stroke, as well as in the use of an epinephrine pen (EpiPen). The benefits of this training include the ability to confidently save lives in the immediate aftermath of a medical emergency, greatly increasing the chances of survival for a patient.
Topics include: Common problems requiring CFR, Administration of aspirin, Use of Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), What to do in an emergency situation, CPR (Adult/Child/Infant), Legislation, Administration and storage of Epinephrine.

Who Is This Course Intended For?

Course Objectives
On completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Recognise the signs of a life-threatening emergency
- Respond in an effective, safe and appropriate manner, to a life-threatening emergency, utilising basic life support skills
- Retrieve and appropriately use, if required, an automated external defibrillator during a cardiac arrest
- Report and Record their actions and interventions appropriately and handover to emergency medical services.
- Identify sign of anaphylactic shock
- Administer Epinephrine in the correct dosage
Entry Requirements
Attendees must be a minimum of 18 years old. A course participant should be mature enough to comprehend the knowledge, skills and implications associated with defibrillation and have a maturity to complete assessment to receive certification.

Accreditation
On successful completion of this course participants will receive a Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) Cardiac First Response & Epinephrine (Adrenaline) Certificate and card which is valid for 2 years. PHECC are the regulator for emergency medical services (EMS) in Ireland and their role is to protect the public. The Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) is an independent statutory agency with responsibility for standards, education and training in the field of pre-hospital emergency care. PHECC also maintain a statutory register of EMS practitioners.
